A Siacoin (SC) wallet serves as either a physical device or a software application designed to securely store your private keys, facilitating the sending and receiving of Siacoin (SC) across the Siacoin network. These wallets are available in multiple formats, such as desktop, mobile, hardware, and paper wallets, each offering different options for managing your Siacoin holdings. If you pick a dependable service, use a strong password, enable two-factor authentication, and store your private keys offline, your Siacoin (SC) wallets can be secure. However, no wallet is completely secure, therefore it’s crucial to exercise caution and good judgment.

Download the Sia-UI first
Download the Sia-UI for your operating system from the Sia downloads page. If you’re looking for the Sia Daemon, don’t download it; it’s exclusively for command-line use
Launch the Sia-UI application
Sia will install and start once you launch the downloaded Sia-UI installer. For future convenience, it will also add a shortcut to the Desktop and the Start Menu on Windows. To launch the Sia-UI, select one of these icons. You could receive a warning about Windows preventing your computer from opening files downloaded from the Internet once you launch Sia. Select Run Anyway after selecting More Info. A notification about allowing Sia to communicate online can also be sent to you. If prompted, accept it since Sia needs this to synchronize with the network. Sia will open and begin synchronizing, and “Syncing” will appear in the window’s upper right corner. To track the development, hover your mouse cursor over it. Synchronization duration for Sia varies due to factors like block count and hardware capabilities, potentially spanning more than 24 hours.
Create a new wallet
After launching Sia, you’re given a decision: make another wallet or reestablish from seed. If you’re a first-time client, select ‘’make a new wallet’’ to produce another wallet seed for your Sia wallet.
Write down your wallet seed
Note the seed of your particular wallet. If you ever need to recover your wallet, you’ll need your seed, so be sure to copy this lengthy phrase precisely. It serves as the private key to both your wallet and your files on Sia. Additionally, you may print it out or save it as a text file by copying it to your clipboard. Maintaining your wallet seed in a secure location is important because anyone who has it can access your wallet and any Siacoins you have inside. Avoid keeping it online or in a visible location where it could be taken by someone who knows what it is. Upon securing your wallet seed, advance by clicking “Next.” Sia will then request you to modify specific terms within your seed to confirm its accuracy. Utilizing the first three letters, Sia’s seed word autocomplete will offer a singular suggestion as you input them.
Sync or access the dashboard
Upon verifying your seed, Sia will communicate ongoing synchronization. You can either await Sia’s completion or venture into the Dashboard, mindful of the potentially extended process. Utilizing consensus database bootstrapping can expedite Sia’s syncing. If a password prompt appears and disappears shortly, enter your entire pocket seed as the password. Alternatively, if your seed is saved in a text file, copy and paste it into the password field if needed.
Acquaintance with Sia-UI
Welcome to Sia-UI! Navigate to the Wallet option on the left to explore your freshly created account. Since there won’t be any recent transactions, you won’t find much to see yet. Keep in mind that even if there were transactions, they wouldn’t be visible until your Sia-UI is fully synchronized.
Create a wallet address
Given the absence of Siacoins in your new account, the optimal approach is to generate a receiving address. Within the Wallet section, click on the Receive tab and opt for Generate New Address. Utilize the “copy” function next to the address to ensure accurate duplication and prevent any mishaps when managing addresses. A freshly generated receiving address will emerge under the Latest Address section.
